We were there on a cold Thursday night and glad to get inside and warm.  They were full when we arrived at about 6:30 but the wait was just a few minutes.

From the name alone you know that there is likely some serious beer involved - but this is one place that the name does not tell the whole story.  In looking for new places to try I followed up on a lead from Robyn's co-worker.  I of course started with the internet and it didn't take me long to commit to making it our next stop.

To be fair, the beer is a huge pull here.

The beer menu is over 100 strong with draft, domestic, import, micro-brew and high-gravity selections.  The beers for Robyn and me were Blue Moon (draft), Lefthand 400lb. Monkey (draft) and Jubilee Brown Ale (bottle).  The Lefthand 400lb. Monkey was a pick by me based only partly on the name.  The waiter backed me up and I really enjoyed it.  The Jubilee Brown Ale was a substitution for something I asked for that was not in.  Not a favorite - the favor was close to what I was looking for but by the time the head was down it was too flat for me.  With their huge selection I am sure I can find something else to try next time.

Though I enjoyed the beer, it's the food that will have us coming back.  The food orders for our four (4):

  • Ceviche - this was big enough for four (4) to share as a appetizer.  It included chips and was topped with three or four slices of avocado.  On the side was a red sauce and it was HOT.
  • Black-n-Blue Burger with Roasted Potato Wedges (Bob)
  • Garlic Stuffed Roasted Pork Loin with the Seasonal Vegetable (Robyn)
  • BLT with Salmon [Roasted Potato Wedges] (me) [Button Mushrooms] (Donna)

Everything came out great freshly-prepared and as ordered.  In fact the potatoes were straight out of the oven and Bob had to warn me to give them a minute to cool down.  We enjoyed everything and everyone wants to come back soon.  I must say that this is one of the best buys I have seen in Nashville,  The food quality is way above what you would expect in a tavern but his isn't just bar food.  It is a quality menu with broad selections and very reasonable prices.

Overall a big hit and I am planning a trip back with my lunch buddies soon.
